Electric Concept Vehicles
The following are electric concept vehicles. Please note that this page is quite outdated now.
Mini QED - A demonstration vehicle to showcase the best electric drive system in the world! PML has developed the independent Quad Electric Drive wheel motors.
Chevy Volt - The Chevy Volt is an extended range EV, which uses a gasoline engine to run a generator ones the main batteries have been depleted. Too bad this is still a concept, as Chevy was supposed to have this ready for 2010.
Nissan Mixim - Nissan Mixim is an EV with a small efficient body design. The driver sits centrally, with two seats on either side and controls that are reminiscent of video games. This little EV uses lithium-ion batteries which should give it decent range and snappy power.
Opel Flextreme- The E-Flex is similar to the Chevy Volt (Opel is after all a subsidiary of GM), with many possible sources for the electricity. The Flextreme uses a small diesel engine linked to a generator which powers the electric motors that drive the car. It will supposedly burn just 1.5 liters per 100 km (155 mpg), and emit 40 g/km (or 40 g/.62 mi.) CO2.
EV-X7 Sumo Electric motorcycle - a prototype created by the Axle Corporation in Japan uses a new hybrid magnetic technology that combines electro-magnets with permanent magnets to achieve incredible range and power. This allows the EV-X7 reaches speeds of 93Mph and has a range of almost 200 km on a single 6 hour charge, which is pretty amazing considering the lack of space for batteries in a motorcycle.
Volvo Recharge - it's a hybrid like the Chevy Volt and can go 100 kms on electric only, with a top speed of 160 kms/hr. The generator motor recharges the battery pack in only 3 hours for a complete charge. This car will do 1-100km/hr in 9 seconds! It's also an all wheel drive.
